When 2008 is laid to rest, one of its most underrated breakout talents may be St. Louis, MI’s Black Spade. He dropped a great album, To Serve with Love, in March; and has since leaked out several great remixes, including a fistful for Jay-Z’s American Gangster opus.
This week, he put out two new remixes under his new alias, Stoney Rock. The first turns the “Stay Up (Viagra)” single from 88-Keys weird-yet-funny album The Death of Adam into a bleedy-eyed funk workout. The second reworks nu-soul newcomer Jesse Boykins III’s “Tabloids.” Thanks to DJ Jamad for the tracks.
