I usually don’t post about stuff like this, but I’m amused at some of the contributors to Maroon 5’s upcoming remix album, Call & Response. Set for release on December 9 via A&M/Octone, it features assists from numerous hip-hop producers — including Questlove, Just Blaze, The Cool Kids, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and DJ Premier — underscoring the blue-eyed soul/pop band’s affinity for urban music.
“I’ve always found it really interesting that a group of people looking at the same painting can all see different things,” Maroon 5’s Adam Levine told Billboard.com. “That was the idea behind this record-to take a few of our songs and have them interpreted by some of our favorite artists. We were really blown away by what they came up with.”
Even more amusing is watching some hipsters get their panties in a bunch at seeing their precious little indie-rock heroes in the remix credits. Deerhoof selling out — who woulda thunk it?
